Celebrate Texas
The goal of Celebrate Texas is to promote Texas Independence Day and the history of Texas and its people. Ceremonies are held each year at the State Cemetery on March 2, and a parade is held in Austin on the Saturday nearest March 2. Celebrate Texas sponsors art and essay contests for elementary, middle school and high school students. The deadline is usually early February. The Daughters of the Republic of Texas Library is a non-circulating collection that is part of the Alamo complex in San Antonio. The Library is maintained by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. This site provides a timeline of Alamo history plus links to other museums and resources.

Perry-CastaƱeda Library Map Collection, The University of Texas at Austin
This map collection goes well beyond Texas to all parts of the world, both present and past. The website lists maps of current interest, general interest plus historical maps. A little over 5000 of the 250,000 maps in the collection have been scanned and are available on-line.

Portal to Texas History, University of North Texas
The Portal to Texas History provides Primary Source Adventures, which are units that bring together multiple primary source historical documents. Texas Beyond History (TBH)
Texas Beyond History is a public education service provided by the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory at The University of Texas at Austin in partnership with thirteen other organizations. This virtual museum includes an immense amount of information about Texas and it cultural heritage of 13,500 years. This site should be used on a regular basic for fourth grade and seventh grade Texas history classes.

Texas Military Forces Museum

The Texas Parks and Wildlife website has information on a number of topics: Fishing and Boating, Hunting and Wildlife, Land and Water, and State Parks and Destinations. Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum
The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, in Waco, is the official museum for the Texas Rangers. The website provides information about the history of the Texas Rangers including badges, firearms and artifacts. A virtual tour of some of the exhibits is available on-line.

Texas Tides Project
Texas Tides Digital Learning Consortium is sponsored by Stephen F. Austin State University in partnership with several other institutions to link learners with primary resources, to create a portal of regional primary resources for research and to remove barriers to digitized cultural resources for underserved communities. Timelines for African, Anglo, Mexican, Spanish and Native Americans lead to primary source documents.

UTOPIA is a constantly changing website, sponsored by The University of Texas at Austin, for the citizens of Texas and beyond. It includes information for every content area including information for educators, students, families and a You-T for anyone to explore various topics of interest. The Social Studies section has information on Constitution Day as well as examples from the Paper Doll Collection. Numerous lesson plans are posted for each grade level.
